Check out the Air Jordan 31 Fine Print. Any guesses as to what the inspiration behind this Fine Print colorway is? Jordan takes it way back for this latest inspiration the Jordan 31. How back do they take it, you say? All the way back to the exact moment when the young rookie (Michael Jordan) signed his contract with Nike. Coming in a Black and White upper, the colors on the shoe are meant to represent the colors seen on the document/contract: White paper, Black ink. Aside from the two-toned look on the shoe, there are also minimal hits of Wolf Grey strategically placed all around the shoe. A cool feature on the shoe lies on the outsole, as Michael Jordan’s John Hancock can be seen in Black to complete the theme of the shoe.
Jordan Brand’s celebration of their latest signature silhouette, the Air Jordan 31, is also a celebration of Michael Jordan’s first model. Not only did they start things off with a bang thanks to a “Banned” inspiration based on the iconic Air Jordan 1 colorway, but this September 17th, a brand new pair will be releasing that celebrates what started MJ’s legendary partnership with Nike in the fist place – a contractual obligation. While that might not seem like the most ideal inspiration behind a new colorway, Jordan Brand takes a luxurious approach to the first contract Mike ever signed with Nike, as the Air Jordan 31 Fine Print features premium black leather, a woven Flyweave upper that dons both a gradient Nike Swoosh and white Jumpman branding, and an icy outsole featuring Michael Jordan’s iconic signature. The first contract Michael Jordan ever signed with Nike went into effect on October 24th, 1984 before he even donned a Chicago Bulls jersey in a regular season game. The simple, understated black and white upper is inspired by the stark paper and print on the contract while the icy outsole bares MJ’s signature in all its oversized glory. A premium leather finish finds its way onto the heel construction in honor of the Air Jordan 1 while the medial side sports embossed Wings branding to bring things back to 1985.
The Air Jordan XXX1 is already around the corner and has a scheduled release date for Summer which is way before many of us thought they would launch. Back in January, Tinker Hatfield who has crafted the Air Jordan XXX1 has already stated the shoe is designed and are already working on the 32. He had also mentioned that the Air Jordan XXX was a rush job, the reasoning behind the similarities to the previous model.
The Air Jordan XXX1 ‘Brazil’ is the latest Air Jordan XXX1 to leak which will be apart of Jordan Brand’s Olympic releases. As well, there is also a USA themed Air Jordan XXX1. Looking closer, this Air Jordan XXX1 features shades of Blue and Green through the base that represents Brazil, where the 2016 Olympic Games are being held. In addition to the Green to Blue gradient across the base, the brand has used a White midsole and translucent outsole. Other details include a subtle Swoosh and a White Jumpman by the heel. Alongside the inaugural Banned colorway, the newly-introduced Air Jordan 31 will be offered in two other variations this season as a tribute to the 2016 Summer Olympics. Particularly paying homage to the host nation, Brazil, the basketball silhouette is treated in the country’s traditional Rio colors with vibrant green and blue predominant across the flyweave and synthetic leather upper. Offset with a crisp white midsole unit and icy translucent outsole, a USA-themed iteration of the model is also introduced, as it’ll be worn by both Carmelo Anthony and Jimmy Butler throughout the Olympics.

They’ll be worn throughout the Summer Olympics by both brand athletes Jimmy Butler and Carmelo Anthony. The Air Jordan XXX1 ‘USA’ was spotted on the feet of team members Jimmy Butler and Carmelo Anthony. We have also learned they will release at Jordan Brand retailers during August. For those that don’t know, the Air Jordan XXX1 features elements and overall inspiration from the Air Jordan 1. Although appearing modern, the Nike Swooshes shown on the panels pin-points to the (now brands) early days.
