Drake has been partnering with Jordan Brand for quite some time now, and while it’s been awhile since we last saw an OVO x Jordan release at retail, Drizzy is still reaping the rewards of his friends and family relationship with the brand. Earlier today Champagne Papi took to Instagram to show off some truly rare PEs of sorts that were given to him by the brand: an Air Jordan 4 Multi-Color featuring Chicago-themed midsole speckling and Nike Air branding on the heel; an Air Jordan 8 Midnight Madness PE for the Kentucky Wildcats that’s a bit different than the pair seen on Coach Calipari‘s feet; and an Air Jordan 8 Charles Oakley PE inspired by Oak’s time with the Toronto Raptors during the twilight of his pro career.
Early information released that the KAWS Air Jordan 4 Black will release during 2018. Both KAWS and Jordan Brand came together and released an Air Jordan 4, however there is a Friends and Family exclusive. Currently it isn’t known if the Friends and Family edition will be the KAWS x Air Jordan 4 to release in 2018 or if it will feature a new theme. However it is said that they will come in Black and by the color description, it appears that they will feature predominate Black. We could also see the same design across the uppers along with a glow in the dark outsole. As a follow up to KAWS recently showing off the Black pair, Drake took it to Instagram to share a few photos as well. Although he didn’t give us any clues on a potential release, this only adds to the buzz already surrounding the highly anticipated release. Drake recently took to Instagram to offer another look at the ultra exclusive KAWS x Air Jordan 4 “Friends & Family” model. Ditching the gray look found on the colorway released earlier this year, the “Friends & Family” iteration of the KAWS x Air Jordan 4 features a premium black suede construction, glow-in-the-dark outsole and KAWS branding found on the heel, insole and lace tips. The photos posted by Drizzy showcase the medial sides of the collaborative sneaker, highlighting the KAWS designs found on the suede upper that serve as the main design elements of the shoe. No word yet on a general release date, but stay tuned for more details when they become available.
Who remember NBA Jam? We sure do. The game which paved the way for basketball video games will also be looked upon as a classic. Taking inspiration from the game and Super Nintendo, Freak Sneaks is back with another custom, this time the Air Jordan 4 ‘SNES US NBA Jam’ Custom. You may remember his previous custom which is the Air Jordan 4 Super Nintendo, but here it comes with a twist. Shades of Grey as well as Purple represent the SNES console while the heel displays a directional pad and buttons. Finishing the look we have NBA Jam ‘Finals Edition’ which is placed on the tongue tags.
The Air Jordan 3 ‘Anthracite’ is a new colorway which is releasing as a girls exclusive. Expect this pair to debut during October 2017. This kids exclusive Air Jordan 3 comes dressed in an Anthracite, Metallic Red Bronze and Dark Grey color combination. As you can see, Anthracite covers the uppers which features suede. Following we have Black which lands on the elephant print that wraps the toe and heel. Other highlights includes Red Bronze on the top eyelets and Jumpman on the heel while White lands on the midsole and Black on the outsole.
A new colorway of the Air Jordan 3 just surfaced and it’s a GS-exclusive that will be releasing for the Fall of 2017. Known as the Air Jordan 3 GS Anthracite, this colorway of the Jordan 3 comes covered in an Anthracite and Dark Grey suede upper with Black elephant print detailing on the toe cap and heel. Providing some contrast is Metallic Red Bronze on the Jumpman logos on the tongue and heel and eyelets. A white midsole and black rubber outsole complete the look. If the return of the Air Jordan 3 “Mocha” in 2018 is any indication, next year could be a big year for the beloved third Air Jordan model. Rumors are already out there about the OG Black/Cement colorway making a big comeback, and while this new release we’re previewing today may not be quite as notable, it further hints that next year might be filled with a wide range of Air Jordan 3 drops. The upcoming Air Jordan 3 is a kids-exclusive colorway in Anthracite suede with tonal black elephant print panels and what appears to be dark orange for the top lace eyelets and Jumpman heel logo.
The Air Jordan 3 ‘Mocha’ is making a return part of Jordan Brand’s Summer 2018 lineup. Not an original color theme, this model has gained popularity by collectors over the years. The ‘Mocha’ Air Jordan 3 first and last released during 2001. When released, they sat for months, however they became sought after years later. This Air Jordan 3 will feature a White, Chrome and Dark Mocha color combination. Using White across the base, the highlight of this pair is Mocha used on the elephant print wrapping the toe and heel. Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3, the first Tinker Hatfield designed Air Jordan and largely the most popular of all 32 iterations. The year will of course be highlighted by the return of the Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement” with Nike Air in February. But they won’t be nearly the only hyped Air Jordan 3 of 2018.
The Air Jordan 3 “Mocha” is also reported to return next year. First debuted back in 2001, this will be the first time since then that the white and dark mocha shoe will be seen at retailers. A tentative summer drop date is being speculated. Look for more details in the months to come. 16 years ago today, the Air Jordan 3 “Mocha” released for the first — and thus far — only time. Painfully panned, this retro+ rendition of the adored AJ3 was the first of its kind, releasing shortly after the beloved OG that was the Black/Cement 3 (complete with Nike Air) and before the first retro release of the Jumpman laden “True Blue” 3s.
Bad timing? Bad colorway? In hindsight we’d say ‘yes’ to the first question (keep in mind, this was the first retro Jordan release after 9/11) and ‘no’ to the second, but that certainly wasn’t the case for retro Jordans then. While MJ bringbacks were performing much better than that of their retirement run circa ’94-’95, the market was very quiet for new colorways on old favorites and the culture was super resistant to anything non-OG. Think about it, if Day 1 fans couldn’t stomach Jumpman logos in place of Nike Air on the heel or even inspired takes like the “Laney” 5s, how were they gonna feel about a coffee colorway on the shoe Mike made fly from the free throw line? Getting endorsement by Fabolous in the “Youngin’ (Holla Back)” music video but little love from anyone else, the shoe hit sale racks in a time where you could still get the OG colorways on the 3s months after they dropped. Sure, JB was dropping Timberland takes like the “Ginger” 16s around the same era, but it was history in the making as Mike would actually play in them versus history rewritten. Updated and thus misrepresented in the hearts of many, this forward thinking approach to expanding the catalog didn’t sit well with wearers that were purists and actual MJ fans, more rooted in sport and less lifestyle in fashion.
Over the 16 years that have followed though, the tide has certainly turned on how and who wears Jordans, the appeal of retro+ colorways and ultimately the popularity of the “Mocha” 3s. The shoes have become a stunt piece in the pages of Celebrity Sneaker Stalker with the likes of Macklemore and Kanye West wearing them with modern flavor, still serving as a rarity to even those with the means.
According to some reliable sources Don C of Just Don fame will be releasing the third and final colorway of his ongoing Air Jordan 2 collaborations this Spring/Summer 2017 season. While we’ve seen some other samples featuring a black leather upper, rumors are that the third Just Don x Air Jordan 2 will be the above pictured light pink, a shade perfect for Spring 2017 and only shows the Jumpman’s dedication to introducing new lifestyle-ready designs. Jordan Brand unveiled the pink Don C x Air Jordan 2 project on Tuesday, confirming info about the shoes releasing only in small sizes and posting a full list of retailers that will carry them. It looks like the shoes will not be available online via Nike or Jordan, although they will be on the Just Don website. Additionally, the Don C x Air Jordan 2 “Arctic Orange” will release at Wish, Concepts, Kith, Social Status, RSVP Gallery, 32 South State, Xhibition, Sneaker Politics, Oneness, SoleFly, Creme, Trophy Room, Ubiq, and Capsule. This sneaker will also be available at international retailers, although Jordan Brand hasn’t posted a list of stores outside the U.S. that will carry them. The sneakers won’t come in men’s sizes, a decision made by Don C after he saw his family miss out on previous Jordan 2s of his that weren’t available in a wide range of sizes. The Just Don x Air Jordan 2 collaborations first launched back in 2015 which came in all Blue. In 2016, the two followed up with the ‘Beach’ edition which came in a special package. Now on to the third Air Jordan 2 designed by Don C which is covered in a shade of Light Pink. The series, which is limited, all feature premium materials. As you can see, quilted leather lands on the uppers while suede is applied to the overlays.
“My family couldn’t participate in the last couple of Jordan releases so it felt good to allow them to take part. This collaboration is not only for my blood family but my extended family—all my friends,” Don C says in a piece at the Jordan blog. “I am excited to put family first for this drop and expand my Jordan collaboration to everyone.” Nike is revamping its SNKRS app with a new feature that allows the brand to launch shoes in specific geographic locations. The brand will debut this new way of selling shoes, called the SNKRS Stash, with the release of the Just Don x Air Jordan 2 “Arctic Orange.”
SNKRS app users should get notifications about this first release today, with a geo-location going live in Los Angeles at noon PST. Shoppers who head to a designated location in the specified time window will have the ability to purchase the sneakers online via the Nike SNKRS Stash card. The launch works something like a scavenger hunt—the mystery location won’t be immediately revealed, and users will have to follow clues to find it. Nike has a landing page explaining the feature here. The Just Don x Air Jordan 2 is a limited edition collaboration from Don C and Jordan Brand. They first debuted the collab in January 2015 in a “Blue” colorway, followed by the “Beach” colorway that released as a package in January 2016. The third colorway of Don C’s designed Air Jordan 2 will come in a Light Pink shade that covers the entire shoe. Much like the other releases, this pair is built with a premium quilted leather upper and suede overlays.
Michael Jordan who dropped 18 points in the game was also joined in the game by Reggie Miller, Kenny Smith and James Worthy to name a few. Also known as the Air Jordan 2 UNC PE which was worn by Michael Jordan on January 18th, 1986 during the Carolina Pro Alumni basketball game. On this particular day, this was the first time that the North Carolina Tar Heels claimed the Dean E. Smith Center as their home.
While inspiration has came from the Alumni Game, this Air Jordan 2 features a North Carolina and Chicago Bulls color theme throughout. As you can see, the uppers are done in White while constructed of leather. In addition, we have Black and Varsity Red accents seen on the tongue, laces and midsole. At the heel we have University Blue with ‘MJ’ and ‘6/28/87’ which pays tribute to the date the game was played. This 2017 version of the Air Jordan 2 Alumni will return in its OG colors of White, Varsity Red and Black. Giving it that UNC feel is the Carolina Blue noted on the heel tab of the shoe. Special detailing which was not on the PE version include the special branding on the heels that reads, “MJ” and “6/28/87” as a nod to the date the UNC vs. ULCA Alumni game was played.
This particular Air Jordan 2 UNC PE was debuted by Michael Jordan on January 18th, 1986 as part of the Carolina Pro Alumni basketball game. That day was the first time the North Carolina Tar Heels called the Dean E. Smith Center home. This particular Air Jordan 2 UNC PE was debuted by Michael Jordan on January 18th, 1986 as part of the Carolina Pro Alumni basketball game. That day was the first time the North Carolina Tar Heels called the Dean E. Smith Center home. Just like the original PE, this Air Jordan 2 comes dressed in White, Varsity Red and Black color scheme with Carolina Blue on the back tab. But for the 2017 Retro version, the shoe will come with details on the heel that reads, “MJ” and “6/28/87” as a nod to the date the UNC vs. ULCA Alumni game was played.
Nike Flyknit is built to provide strength, breathability and flexibility, all in one. It uses high-strength fibers to remain strong in targeted areas. But it’s not rigid because its light yarn replaces the standard gluing and stitching that is found on most sneakers.
The Air Jordan 1 Flyknit features hits of premium leather (the Swoosh, Wings and Nike Air logos), a mainstay of previous AJ1 releases. Other than that, the AJ1 has been completely updated. A Nike Zoom Air unit has been added to the heel and the rest of the sneaker is covered in Flyknit. The AJ1, of course, is among Michael’s most popular silhouettes. The NBA initially banned him from wearing them because they broke the dress code. But between Michael’s aerial showmanship and his refusal to stop wearing them, the 1 launched His Airness into both the sneaker and basketball stratosphere. The 1 has become a cultural staple, transcending the hardwood.

Virgil Abloh’s OFF-WHITE label will be collaborating with Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 1 Chicago for an official OFF-WHITE Air Jordan 1 Chicago release. There’s no doubt that this collaboration is truly a one-of-a-kind design on the iconic silhouette. This Air Jordan 1 uses a constructed build that pretty much mixes both the Air Jordan 1 High Ultra and Deconstructed tooling. The high-top sneaker comes dressed in familiar Red, White and Black Chicago Bulls-inspired color scheme. Its branded with OFF-WHITE for Nike tagging on the medial side, along with a unique Nike Swoosh logo and “AIR” branding on the midsole. Other notable details include branding on the laces and the year ’85 on the inner ankle flap. It’s especially appropriate that the white and red upper channels the classic “Chicago” Jordan 1 colorway, which is also being revisited in the upcoming “Homage to Home” sneakers pairing it with the equally iconic “Banned” colorway. The sneakers also come with four sets of laces: black, white, lime green and orange. Each has “SHOELACE” in quotes printed on it. Other touches of Abloh’s design philosophy can be seen in the bricolage-esque approach to the Swoosh construction, as well as the OFF-WHITE zip tie attached to the shoe’s collar. Even the box the shoes come in mirrors the deconstructionist approach to the sneakers, with the entire box turned inside-out resulting in a plain cardboard on the outside and nods to the classic Jordan shoe box on the inside.
2013 was the last time the Air Jordan 1 ‘Shadow’ was released to the public and now rumors are swirling that the beloved Air Jordan classic will be released again in 2018. At one point sneakerheads believe we might possibly see this shoe release this year but Jordan Brand quickly dispelled that thought, but now it looks like 2018 is the year for the return of the ‘Shadow’ 1. The Air Jordan 1 ‘Shadow’ is expected to release in May of 2018 for $160 USD. This shoe features a black premium leather upper with accents of ‘Shadow’ grey. This shoe is finished off with black laces and a white mid-sole. The Shadow Air Jordan 1 High is another release that was rumored for 2018. I felt the same way about this release as I did about the Black/Cement 3, so I waited patiently for confirmation. I got it, and now I feel comfortable publishing confirmed info that Shadow 1s will release next year. However, I was told that Steel Jordan 10 and White/Red Jordan 14 dropping next year are just rumors. That’s the main reason why I just wait nowadays. I remember my early days of reporting where I was so pressed to be the first site to post info whether it was confirmed or rumored. You live and you learn, so I just wait it out now. I do miss leaking info, but it’s tricky now because of relationships.
